The Mayflower was a three-masted sailing ship that, on 16 September 1620, departed from the Mayflower Steps in Plymouth with 102 passengers on a journey to America.

66 days later, on the 19 November, the Pilgrims sighted land which, today, is known as Cape Cod. They anchored in what is now Provincetown Harbour.

Every year America celebrates the Pilgrims’ first harvest with an event called Thanksgiving Day.
